5 Reasons I Love Chiropractic

Blog Post by Dr. Lola Capps      Photo by Julia Caesar on Unsplash

Ok, really it seems like this could be a one word blog post.

EVERYTHING.

I love everything about chiropractic. To narrow it down to 5 is tricky but here it goes!

1. Increases Mobility.

This is actually pretty cool because mobility is increased at the joint level and overall within the body. We all know that joints should have movement an example would be your knee or your elbow but did you know that your spine is made of  . That is its job - move! Every single bone in your spine makes up a joint. They align with the bones above and below and should have small amounts of movement. When these joints get stuck and decrease movement they create tightness, inflammation and pain in the area. When this builds you have decrease of mobility overall in the body.

2. Energy Boost.

When you get a chiropractic adjustment your body releases endorphins. These guys are the hormones that make you feel good and are known to relieve stress, anxiety and decrease pain symptoms.

3. Sleep Improves.

Well when you know that the joints are moving better and combine that with endorphins being released it seems like a no brainer that your sleep would improve. If I was to do a poll (this would be a great follow up blog) in the office I would guess that 90% of our patients notice this when they start getting chiropractic care.

4. Immune System Boost.

Your vertebral column, spinal cord, nervous system and immune system have a close connection - all those bones in your back protect your spinal cord. This is important because this is your nervous system and it is in constant communication with your immune system. When the bones are out of alignment it affects the discs, muscles and nerves which can create a decrease in the communication between the systems.

5. Wellness.

Overall there is an improvement in a patient's health getting them closer to wellness which, is awesome. All of us are on a spectrum of health and I have found that it is a constant journey and I can say from personal experience that none of us are perfect. Even I will find myself sitting at times in front of the computer for 3-4 hours at a time as I work on a project forgetting to take a break or realizing that I didn't hit my goals on intake of water for the day. Then I remind myself that tomorrow is another day.  If I have more days of working towards health goals and moving further on the spectrum towards wellness I will have less days of sitting around wondering what in the heck happened to me and my health!

We all have choices to make some are good and well some are not so good. Thankfully, each morning when we open our eyes to start the day we have the option to make a choice and we can choose to carve out a new path on the wellness journey!
